According the case study by The University of Michigan, the fuel economy of new Cars has give good improved by an avarage arround 14 percent, in past 4 years. Michigan study found that the avarage fuel comsumssion efficiency of this year light-duty cars on market arround 21.4 mpg and this input data up from 18.8 in four years ago.
Study by The University of Michiganfound that for new vehicles actually purchased, average fuel economy is 1-2 mpg, at 22.4 miles per gallon higherfor model year 2011 (the last full year of sales), 22.1 mpg for 2010, 21.3 mpg for 2009, and 20.7 mpg for 2008.
Researchers found an improvement of 2.8 mpg for vehicles, this include the station wagon model, and a 1.6 miles per gallon improvement for light-duty trucks, from 2008 to 2012. Average fuel economy is currently 23.4 mpg for vehicles and 18.65 miles per gallon for light trucks. For all 12 cars size classes between 2008 and 2012, Researchers found the greatest increase in mpg for station wagons, which had the highest average 2012 rating of 26 miles per gallon, and 3.7 miles per gallon for compact cars, at 25.7 miles per gallon.
